First, and most importantly, there are a few events that you must be extra wary of: Still, there are many points to keep in mind that may make the achievement easier to obtain. You must simply play well and try until you succeed. There is also no trick or shortcut I can give for this achievement. Not only is the lack of relics (including boss relics) crippling to the player, but many people struggle with turning off the muscle memory to pick up every relic they see.
For many players, it is the hardest of the four challenge runs, and it is the least achieved of the challenge runs on Steam. This infamous achievement requires the player to defeat the act 3 boss while only having one relic. In future posts, I may discuss some of the other achievements which people often find difficult. For this first post, I will only cover the four challenge run achievements: Who Needs Relics?, Minimalist, Common Sense, and Speed Climber. But those will only be mentioned as additional options for those who are interested.
Of course, given my background, I will include ways to take advantage of exploits or weird game quirks to more easily set up the achievements. This is a topic I’ve put some thought into, as one of the few people to run the “all achievements” speedrunning category for this game in the past. To avoid having to respond individually to all of these requests, I decided to try to give my thoughts on the most efficient ways to obtain each one. The problem with it is that it only hits random opponents.Practically every day, I see people ask for advice on a few of the achievements in Slay the Spire. Lightning is a resource that’s fairly easy for The Defect to generate. Just be mindful that enemies attack from left-to-right, so its usefulness in certain battles may not be as profound. Massive attack incoming? No problem if you’ve got the Buffer in your hand! Though its cost of 2 energy can stifle your offense for a round, it might be a necessary sacrifice when the Buffer is capable of absorbing all of the damage from the next attack that would hit you. Otherwise, fights against tough enemies like Spherical Guardians can drag while also costing you a ton of your precious life. By playing this 1 energy card, you can decimate an enemy’s shield and smack them for 10 damage. Paired with installed plasma orbs, Double Energy opens the doors for you to clear out your hand and then some.įor enemies with armour, Melter is an absolute must. The Double Energy card can give you more runway to work with.
#SLAY THE SPIRE DEFECT UPGRADE#
Upgrade it to add 2 Focus for even more potency!Įnergy is a precious resource, especially for the resource-hog Defect. In scenarios where you have lots of orbs, this card can really transform The Defect into a force of nature. Clutch!ĭefragment adds extra potency to all of your active orbs. Particularly useful in battles against multiple foes, as it generates one Frost for each enemy on screen.
Chill is a godsend in that it adds Frost for free. However, the entire process of adding, using, and removing these orbs takes extra planning and energy to execute. The Defect can summon different types of orbs that can boost its ability to attack, defend, and execute actions. Now that I’ve conquered the tower with The Defect, take a peek at some of my fave cards in its deck! Reaching that limit by managing its unique orb mechanic is the true challenge. When pushed to the limit, this AI can be equal parts bulldozer and fortress. The Defect is far from defective when it comes to battling in Slay the Spire.
